Community Information Display Policy

The Cranston Public Library provides designated space at select library locations for the display and dissemination of free printed materials of community interest.These spaces are available as a service for the public and are open to organizations engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual, or charitable activities and federal, state, and local government agencies and their contractors as space allows. Items that do not meet the above criteria such as commercial, personal, or political materials are prohibited.

Information may be in the form of brochures, flyers, posters, and similar items.  

The library does not endorse the content of posted materials.

All display spaces designated for community information are clearly marked.

Posting Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to all community bulletin boards and other areas designated for public displays.

1. All materials must be submitted to library staff to be approved by the Library Director. Materials posted or left on tables and other display areas without authorization will be removed. Approved materials will be marked as such by the library.
2. The Cranston Public Library reserves the right to restrict the size, number, and location of display materials due to limited display space.
3. Materials without a specific date will be displayed for a reasonable length of time and then removed and recycled.
4. The Cranston Public Library does not assume responsibility for materials that are damaged or stolen.
5. Space is limited; therefore, materials from Cranston-based organizations take precedence over materials from organizations located in other communities.
