Frequently Asked Questions

Important information about library services:

Updated 5/21/2020

Due Dates - All due dates on current loans have been extended to July 1. You may return materials at any time in our book drops only.

Fines - Libraries have agreed on fine forgiveness for fines accrued March 14-July 1.

Holds - Ocean State Libraries has disabled the ability for patrons to place holds from the catalog so that we don't create false expectations for when holds may be able to be picked-up. Holds that are currently on our shelves waiting to be picked-up will be available for up to one week after re-opening.

Library Cards -  If you don't already have a library card, you can apply for one online here: https://www.oslri.org/application/ Our staff is ready to expedite the application process.

We have extended any card that was about to expire to a new expiration date of June 1. If you have any problems with your CPL library card please email director@cranstonlibrary.org(link sends e-mail)  and we will help you!

Donations - DO NOT drop donations into our return bins. DO NOT leave donations outside the library. We cannot safely handle donations at this time.

Wifi - The Cranston Public Library has limited access to FREE public WiFi in the parking lots of all library locations. Please stay inside your car and follow social distancing. Patrons access library WiFi at your own risk.

Resources - We have compiled a list of online resources and health and business resources for use during the pandemic.

Please visit the Ocean State Libraries website for information on COVID-19 and its impact on the Rhode Island Public Library system.
