Summer Weeding Program @ Central

We all hope that April showers bring May flowers, but do you know what else April brings to Cranston Public Library? Free seeds! Thanks to a donation by the University of Rhode Island Master Gardener Program, we have an assortment of free flower, vegetable, and herb seed packets. Pick up your seeds at the Central Library Circulation Desk by April 30 (limit 3 packets per household).

If you really get bitten by the gardening bug, you may also participate in our optional Summer Weeding Program and earn a chance to win one of eight $15.00 Amazon gift cards or one Grand Prize of a $50 gift card to Confreda Greenhouses & Farms!

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

    • When you pick up your seeds, make sure to grab a Summer Weeding Diary Form (or download here)
    • Fill out one brief diary entry (at least 2-3 sentences) per month for June, July, and August, telling us about your gardening experiences
    • Return your completed Summer Weeding Diary Form to the Central Library by August 31
    • Take a photo of your garden and show it to us by August 31 using one of the following options:
        • On Twitter or Instagram, post your photo using the hashtag #CPLSummerWeeding2018
        • On Facebook, post the photo to the Cranston Public Library page (or tag us) and use the #CPLSummerWeeding2018 hashtag
        • Bring in a printed copy
Please note: if you are not tagging your photo on social media, your photo must include a sign you make that has #CPLSummerWeeding2018 on it. The sign can be anywhere in the picture and doesn’t have to be fancy, but does have to be legible!
    • The three diary entries and the photo are all required to be eligible to enter the drawing for prizes.
