Due to the continued state of emergency declared by Mayor Allan Fung in the city of Cranston, the Cranston Public Library will remain closed for the week of March 23-29. The health of our library workers and our community is of the utmost importance. Libraries are by design unable to practice social distancing to the degree recommended by the Rhode Island Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Reopening the library at this time has the potential to harm our community more than help.
We will continue to consult with the Mayor's office and Library Board of Trustees and rely on guidance from the Governor and Department of Health to determine when the library will be able to reopen to the public. We ask our library patrons for your understanding and patience during this time of uncertainty. We also ask you to keep your library materials at home and to not return them until we reopen. Please see below important information concerning due dates and fines.
